Q. Can we look at your past work?
A. Yes! Seeing a company’s work should be the #1 thing to do on your check list. Our clients are usually happy to show you their projects, given enough advance notice.
Q: When do I need to schedule my job?
A: We begin scheduling for the upcoming season in January. It is strongly recommended to schedule prior to May for projects to be completed that summer.
Q: Can I look at materials and plants before they’re installed?
A: Of course! You can even choose the specific plant you’d like. We often meet clients at the nursery and stone yards to look at materials, compare side-by-side, and choose the landscape elements that match exactly what they are looking for.
Q: How much does landscaping cost?
A: Your investment in landscaping your home will vary, depending on a lot of factors. Some homeowners know the general costs of these improvements, and some don't know what to expect. If you can't even guess how much your project is going to cost, you're not alone! Many homeowners don't do major landscape projects often, so they are not sure where to start when budgeting for them. The real answer is that cost depends on the type and complexity of the project. But here are some cost guidelines we hope will help you plan your new outdoor space:
- New homes. For a new home from the ground up, most new homeowners set aside 15-20% of the value of the home to complete the landscaping. This would usually include trees, shrubs, beds, irrigation, lawn, patios, decks, etc.
- Existing homes. For older homes in need of landscape renovation, it really depends on your budget and what kind of space you are planning. We've renovated front yards on smaller homes for $5-10K. Larger yards, and designs that include new walkways, retaining walls etc, might involve a significantly higher investment. We can accommodate budgets from a few thousand dollars to over $100K, depending on your requirements. We'll help you understand how the cost figures are developing as we proceed with your landscape design.
- Patios. Depending on the size and type of materials chosen, patio costs will vary. Stamped concrete tends to cost around $14-15 per square foot. Brick paving generally runs in the $20 per square foot range, and natural bluestone might cost $25-30 per square foot to install. If patios are raised, or include elements such as columns and seating walls, square foot costs can be closer to $30-40 per square foot. The average 600-800 square foot patios you see in our portfolio cost around $15,000.
- Decks. Deck cost will depend primarily on the materials chosen. Cedar decks tend to cost around $20-22 per square foot, while composite decks are closer to $25-30 per square foot. Full, no maintenance PVC decking might require an investment of $30 per square foot or more. Other variables affecting cost are railings, trim levels, stairs, etc.
- Pergolas. Pergolas can run from about $2500 - $10000 depending on the size of the structure and build details. Larger pergolas and pergolas crafted with cultured stone columns or custom fiberglass columns tend to be closer to the higher end of this range.
- Outdoor Lighting. We install only high quality Kichler low voltage lighting systems. These fixtures are either aluminum or brass, and are vastly superior to the low cost big box home store lighting systems. For outdoor lighting, you can plan on an investment of between $150 - $200 per fixture. This would include the fixtures, transformers, wire, conduits, connectors and installation labor.
